Retail Assistant – Part Time, Evenings & Weekends

We are looking to recruit a new retail assistant for our shop in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This permanent part‑time position requires a minimum of 8 hours over 2 days per week, including weekday evenings and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Hours: 8 hours across 2 days per week.
  • Pay: £10.10–£12.31 per hour (age dependent):
  • Ages 16–20: £10.10 per hour
  • Ages 21+: £12.31 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Make all customers feel welcome with a friendly smile and simple hello.
  • Help customers find the items they are looking for.
  • Provide fast, friendly service at the tills, offering help to pack and ensuring a positive farewell.
  • Handle stock with care while working deliveries, quickly placing products into freezers and onto shelves.
  • Work with the team to complete daily and weekly routines that keep shops safe, clean, and tidy.

  • A friendly, positive, hard‑working approach to work.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy environment, shifting between deliveries, till duties, and stock rotation.
  • Reliability and teamwork – to support the small team and meet shift commitments.
  • Flexibility to switch shifts, with rota planned three weeks in advance.
