A Day in the Life of a Restaurant Manager

As Restaurant Manager at Crowne Plaza, you will take full responsibility for the smooth and successful operation of the hotel’s restaurant. You will lead and inspire a diverse team to deliver consistently high standards of service, ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience that reflects the Crowne Plaza brand promise.

Your role will involve overseeing all aspects of food and beverage operations, including team leadership, guest satisfaction, financial performance, stock control, compliance, and brand standards. You will work closely with senior hotel management, the kitchen team, and sales and marketing colleagues to drive revenue, develop attractive offers and promotions, and continuously improve performance.

You will monitor industry trends, analyse sales and financial reports, and ensure that service delivery, food quality, and operational efficiency remain at the highest level. Above all, you will be a visible leader on the floor, engaging with guests and colleagues alike, and leading by example in line with Crowne Plaza and IHG values.

You'll always work with Aimbridge’s four pillars of Food and Beverage in mind: People, Product, Guest, Performance.

Key Responsibilities
Staff Management
Recruitment and Training
  • Recruit, onboard, and train team members to ensure a skilled, motivated, and brand-aligned workforce
  • Deliver ongoing coaching and development to support performance, engagement, and career progression
Scheduling
  • Create and manage staff rotas to ensure appropriate staffing levels across all service periods in line with payroll and business level
Leadership and Motivation
  • Lead by example, motivating the team to deliver exceptional service and achieve sales and service targets
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional working environment
Budgeting and Financial Control
  • Manage departmental budgets, control costs, and work towards revenue and profitability targets.
  • Analyse sales figures, labour costs, and food margins to maximise performance.
  • Contribute to revenue growth; provide insights on high/low performers; support pricing or menu changes.
  • Stock & ordering accuracy with stock counts; reduce wastage; place accurate orders.
Maintenance and Cleanliness
  • Ensure the restaurant is always maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and report any issues promptly.
Customer Experience & Service
Guest Experience
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service in line with Crowne Plaza brand standards
  • Engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner to enhance their dining experience
  • Handling Complaints
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints effectively, resolving issues promptly and professionally
Marketing and Promotions
  • Support and implement marketing initiatives and promotions in line with Crowne Plaza and company guidelines
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to drive covers, revenue, and guest engagement
Compliance and Safety
Health, Safety, and Hygiene
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
  • Maintain a safe working environment for team members and guests
Licensing and Legal Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to licensing laws and all relevant legal requirements
What do we need from you?
  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar role within a hotel or high-quality restaurant environment
  • Strong knowledge of food service, service delivery, and hospitality best practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow direction from senior management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varied shifts as required
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organised
