The Residential Property team is large, highly experienced and spans across the North of England. The team handles a diverse range of residential property transactions for clients and is supported by modern case management systems and technology.

The Role

As a Residential Property Solicitor you will run your own caseload of residential conveyancing matters, providing clients and agents with regular updates, advice and draft documentation. This role involves regular contact with clients and agents and you must demonstrate excellent communication skills and an ability to deliver outstanding client service.

You will work autonomously within a challenging commercial environment, operating a case management system and ensuring the delivery of a profitable contribution to the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run your own caseload of residential property matters, handling sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
  • Deal with freehold and leasehold transactions.
  • Progress matters from instruction through to completion.
  • Provide clients and agents with regular updates, advice and draft documentation.
  • Conduct property searches and review search results.
  • Prepare and review contracts and transfer deeds.
  • Manage Stamp Duty Land Tax returns and Land Registry applications.
  • Handle post‑completion formalities, including registration.
  • Deliver outstanding client service, maintaining clear communication and managing client expectations.
  • Operate a case management system effectively, maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date file records.
  • Manage deadlines, prioritise workload and handle multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Ensure compliance with SRA requirements and firm procedures.
  • Undertake fee‑earning work to provide a profitable contribution to the department.
  • Prepare completion statements and perform financial calculations.
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents.
  • Manage file openings and closings, maintaining organised and compliant files.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Minimum 2 years PQE in Residential Conveyancing / Property.
  • Ability to run own caseload.
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential conveyancing processes and procedures.
  • Experience handling freehold and leasehold transactions.
  • Experience with sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
  • Knowledge of property searches and Land Registry procedures.
  • Understanding of Stamp Duty Land Tax requirements.
  • Good IT skills with experience operating case management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Outstanding client service skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships.
