Job description

Our client, a respected multi-disciplinary law firm with offices across Greater Manchester, is seeking an experienced and driven individual to lead their Residential Conveyancing Team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative and detail-focused professional who is dedicated to delivering high standards in residential property transactions, client care, and team management.

Location: Oldham or West Manchester area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fee earners and paralegals, ensuring the efficient management of caseloads and delivery of excellent client service across all property transactions.
  • Oversee all residential property matters within the team, including freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and new builds.
  • Ensure the team provides accurate and timely legal advice to clients throughout the conveyancing process, maintaining strong standards of client care and communication.
  • Monitor compliance with SRA, AML, CQS, GDPR, and internal protocols, promoting a risk-aware and regulatory-compliant culture.
  • Facilitate continual team training and professional development to enhance conveyancing knowledge and expertise.
  • Review and improve residential conveyancing processes and workflows to optimise quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external stakeholders, clients, estate agents, mortgage providers, and other solicitors to maintain productive professional relationships.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex matters and support team members with technical legal queries and challenging transactions.
  • Track team performance, manage workloads, and report on service delivery targets as required.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications for a Residential Conveyancing Team Leader
  • Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with a valid practising certificate in England and Wales.
  • Significant experience managing a broad range of residential property matters from instruction to post-completion, including complex and high-value cases.
  • Demonstrable track record in leading, supervising, or mentoring conveyancing professionals and supporting their development within a legal environment.
  • Expert knowledge of residential conveyancing law, Land Registry requirements, lender guidance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Outstanding organisational and case management skills, with the ability to prioritise, delegate, and drive results across multiple matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a consultative, empathetic, and professional approach to client and team relationships.
  • Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with case management systems and standard office software; familiarity with digital conveyancing tools is desirable.
