Job summary

A staffing agency is seeking a passionate Residential Child Care Worker to support children’s homes across Lancashire. This role involves ensuring the health and safety of all involved, writing progress reports, and coordinating care plans for children. Residential Child Care Worker

Are you a passionate Residential Child Care Worker looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Residential Child Care Worker to work within Children’s homes across the whole of the county of Lancashire.

Pay Rates: £13.21 – £16.05 Umbrella Rates

Information the Role: Successful candidates will be offered Ad-Hoc Shifts with various shift patterns. The homes are situated across the whole of Lancashire County Council – Please advise which locations you are interested in when applying.

What you will be doing:
  • Taking a leading role in supporting staff teams to understand processes, practice, and systems in respect of the Service function.
  • Contributing to and ensuring that processes, practices, and systems are current, of a high standard, conform to best practice, comply with legislation and/or meet the needs of the Council within that service area.
  • Writing reports and effective documentation regarding the home and children's progress in your care.
  • Ensuring that effective arrangements are made to secure the well-being and the health & safety of all employees and people delivering services for the Council.
  • Representing the home at various forums and ensuring that information is cascaded to the management and staff team.
  • Taking a key role in the inspections of Residential children's homes by supporting the staff team and modelling good practice.
  • Representing and supporting the creation and implementation of Care Planning and safeguarding processes for Young People.
  • Supporting the modernization and continuous change and improvement programs.
  • Ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard.
  • Ensuring that the safeguarding of children and young people is of paramount importance.
  • Coordination of key working for children and young people.
  • Producing and maintaining records on various digital platforms.
  • Undertaking relevant training underpinned by the service ideology and assisting in meeting the training needs of other staff and volunteers, as required.
  • Take a leading role in staff meetings, contributing to achieving priorities and the overall agenda.
  • Visiting family/carers homes, schools, colleges or other settings as required.
  • Facilitating meetings which allow young people to have a say in the running of their home.
  • Being responsive to the needs of the Service as an experienced member of staff, supporting our children with the most complex needs/risks.
Skills & Professional Characteristics needed:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Residential Children and Young People's Services or equivalent.
  • A demonstrative record of delivering high quality services, advice, and guidance.
  • Evidence of successful integrated working with colleagues across the service and agencies to promote the children and young people's best interests.
  • Demonstrable commitment to diversity issues in both service provision and employment practices and evidenced achievement of positive outcomes.
  • Coaching, engaging, advising, and guiding team members.
  • Experience of inspiring and motivating individuals to drive services forward, achieving high quality delivery and improved services.
  • Innovative and creative practice within a diverse, changing, and challenging environments.
  • Risk management in complex cases/issues within a residential home or child care/social work setting.
  • Experience of Child Care Planning and the implementation of child care plans.
  • Experience of working with external agencies, including partnership working with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Experience of prioritising workload and delegating tasks to the wider team, to ensure the service is operating efficiently.
