Job description
Resident Building Services Engineer

Location: Holborn
Salary: Upto £40,000

Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for keeping systems running smoothly? We’re looking for a Resident Building Services Engineer to join our team and ensure the effective delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across our sites.

Responsibilities
  • Organising and completing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with the PPM schedule.
  • Responding to reactive maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
  • Installing and repairing plant and associated systems.
  • Supervising other engineers and subcontractors when required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out PPM tasks in accordance with SFG20 standards on Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & HVAC equipment, including:
    • FCU, VRF, VAV systems (electric and pneumatic)
    • AHUs – filters, motors, belts, safety and temperature equipment
    • LTHW, HWS & CHW circulation pumps
    • Sprinklers and fire alarm weekly testing
    • Calorifiers, water heaters, pressure vessels
    • Lighting & emergency lighting
    • Basic plumbing tasks (ball valves, toilet systems, taps)
    • Electrical maintenance (LED replacement, small installs)
    • Water hygiene tasks (HSG274) for closed loop and domestic systems
  • Identify and report additional works.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and head office.
  • Complete accurate engineer reports for purchasing and returns.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in building services or facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & HVAC systems.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others when required.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Relevant qualifications and competency checks (training provided where necessary).
Minimum Qualifications, Certifications and Training required
  • GCSE in English and Maths or Equivalent (Essential)
  • Accredited Health and Safety qualification e.g. IOSH Working Safely or equivalent (Desirable)
  • City & Guilds BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (Desirable)
  • City & Guilds 2391 Test and Inspect Electrical Qualification or equivalent (Desirable)
  • HNC or equivalent in Building services (Desirable)
  • NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and heating (Desirable)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Heating & Ventilation (Desirable)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience for this role
  • 2 years previous experience within similar environment and in particular across area multi sites and multi-discipline service delivery.
  • Background in engineering/property maintenance.
  • Ability to manage priorities in line with business needs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Mechanical Engineering credentials
