Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic oncology nurse to be involved in the delivery of a research programme to assess the remote management of patients receiving immunotherapy.The post holder will lead, the remote intervention, responding to alerts generated by the patient self-report system. The post will involve assisting patients to use the technology as well as safety reporting for the study. The role will involve liaising closely with the multi-disciplinary clinical and research team involved in the E-IMMUNE research programme (e-immune.org.uk).

There is also the opportunity for an appropriate candidate to develop a PhD around the remote management of patients in the late effects setting, following completion of immunotherapy treatment., As a Band 7 Research Nurse you will play a pivotal role the delivery of the research programme, supporting patients and liaising with a team of skilled professionals. This position offers the opportunity to develop your research skills, influence patient care, and contribute to service development within a thriving, fast-paced environment.

You will
  • Provide leadership for the day to day running of the E-IMMUNE study within the unit.
  • Undertake research in the area of immunotherapy late effects in line with project requirements.
  • Manage data collection and storage on a day-to-day basis.
  • Liaise closely with other academics, advisers and administrators relevant to the study.
  • Work with a parent advisory group who will offer guidance and oversight to the study.
  • Work with the research team to develop and maintain the study website.
  • Develop materials relevant to the study including interview schedules, information sheet and ethics application.
  • Communicate with NHS Trusts, people with cancer and professionals to support participant recruitment.
  • Collect and analyse data from qualitative interviews and focus groups with people with cancer and healthcare professionals.
  • Take a leading role in the analysis and writing up of the research findings.
  • Read and review literature as appropriate.
  • Assist in the writing of research reports and scholarly publications.
