This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop and broaden their skills.

We are also opening up this opportunity to consider Band 5 applications for a progression post, with support and training to meet Band 6 competencies / person specification and workload. This would suit a Band 5 nurse who has an interest in Research.

We will provide in-house training. As you build your knowledge and confidence you will be expected to work independently and manage your own caseload in conjunction with the team of research staff.

You will be appointed into a Band 5 trainee role until you have completed the relevant training and passed the competencies required for the role. This will include a minimum of 9 months in a relevant clinical research role. At this point you will progress to Band 6.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of clinical research studies.
  • Ensure studies are run to the highest standards incorporating GCP Guidelines.
  • Assist in the setup and delivery of NIHR Portfolio research across the CUH Campus.

  • Recruit patients to clinical trials using trial eligibility criteria.
  • Co‑ordinate trial patient treatment, assessment, follow‑up and data collection according to specific clinical trial protocols.
  • Demonstrate extended skills such as phlebotomy, ECG and laboratory skills to perform research duties in line with study protocols.
  • Provide specialist nursing care and data collection according to study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research governance framework.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to, and liaise with other staff.
Qualifications and Experience

Experience in clinical research (e.g., GCP, NIHR, clinical trials) and clinical nursing. Knowledge and skills in phlebotomy, ECG and laboratory procedures. Ability to work independently and manage a caseload. For Band 5 applicants, a minimum of 9 months in a relevant clinical research role is required.
