Job description

The Research Analyst I will support initiatives to combat child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking globally by providing rigorous specialized data collection and desk review taskings. The analyst will conduct applied research that integrates quantitative and qualitative methodologies to analyze global labor conditions, supply chains, and trade flows, contributing directly to reports under the Trade and Development Act (TDA) and the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct desk research to identify incidents of state-sponsored use of child labor, including state-owned enterprises, criminal networks, and elevated risks related to state-sponsored use of child labor globally.
  • Using established criteria, systematically assess qualitative or quantitative reports, statistics, newspaper articles, non-governmental organization/civil society organizational reports, interviews, or other material to identify incidence of child labor.
  • Assess supply chain risks of state-sponsored child labor.
  • Draft summary paragraphs of risk or identified incidence of state-sponsored child labor, systematically applying research criteria across a large swath of countries.
  • Systematically catalogue citations across country research.
  • Present research findings to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to social science research and minimum of 3-5 years of related experience or master’s degree.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in international child labor standards, including ILO conventions 138 and 182.
  • Strong understanding of global criminal networks and state-sponsored labor programs.
  • Basic Mandarin literacy skills required.
  • Ability to exercise personal and professional discretion in handling projects of a sensitive nature.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Flexible, team-oriented approach to work.
