Qualifications

Overview

33 hours per week, term time only.

Are you a qualified and experienced cook / chef with a friendly manner and a love of children? If the answer is yes then please read on!

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a range of two main course meals as well as sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads and desserts to pupils and school staff (daily meal numbers ranging anywhere between 50 –300/day).
  • Supervise the team of staff within the kitchen, overseeing all day-to-day kitchen and service matters as well as administration and paperwork duties such as food ordering, stock taking, completing wage returns etc.
  • Work in a school environment requiring a customer‑friendly approach and a happy and positive manner.
  • Cover a range of different school kitchens across the City in the absence of the school Catering Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Experienced chefs / cooks / assistant cooks looking for the next step into managing a school kitchen.
  • Previous experience working in a cooking capacity (e.g., chef, cook).
  • Ideally holding a cooking qualification (C&G 7061/2 / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Ability to travel between sites as required.
Conditions & Benefits

This is a permanent role with a guaranteed minimum number of contracted hours (33 hours per week, term time). The post is mobile and permanent with access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and opportunities for personal development and progression within the service. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
