Responsibilities
- Ensure plant, equipment and facilities breakdowns are resolved efficiently and effectively, attending to preventative maintenance programmes and meeting manufacturing objectives.
- Maintain plant and equipment to ensure it performs to necessary efficiency standards and complies with company policies, procedures and standards.
- Identify, diagnose and rectify faults/breakdowns in a timely safe manner.
- Identify potential faults and hazards, communicate and offer solutions, liaising with Maintenance and Production Management to plan corrective actions within planned maintenance windows.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities and offer improvements and additions to the Preventative Maintenance Plan, streamlining and improving the system wherever possible.
- Utilise and improve the CMMS to ensure it is kept up to date with all relevant information.
- Assist the Engineering Manager with plant improvements, offering improvement suggestions and ensuring minimal downtime through effective planned maintenance.
- Prioritise and manage workload ensuring minimum impact on production efficiency.
- Manage and improve standards of Health and Safety, hygiene, quality and food safety.
- Ensure that all tasks are conducted safely, adhering to NWF Health & Safety Regulations, working in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and reporting any hazards.
- Adherence to Corporate Sanitation Standards ensuring that the department operates to the highest standards of hygiene.
- Facilitate and execute continuous improvement activities.
- Support the achievement of customer service levels and production plan.
- Issue permits, coordinate and assist contractors where required.
- Adapt an "Always Audit Ready" approach.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Ensure engineering stock is kept up to date and at the required stock levels.
- Implement and adhere to hygiene, health & safety and food safety regulations.
- Factory start‑up, machine testing and supporting all manufacturing facilities as required.
- Ensure all maintenance records are recorded on the CMMS system.
- Undertake training and assist in training other or new members of staff as required.
- Work at all times in accordance with the Company’s Dignity at Work policy.
- Undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job.
Person Specification
- BTEC HNC / NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
- IPAF licence or equivalent
- 18th Edition Electrical Certificate
- Ability to weld (TIG, MMA)
- Current Reach truck / Counterbalance / PPT licences
- Basic Health & Safety and Basic Food Hygiene qualifications
- Time‑served qualified engineering technician, with PLC experience desirable
- Minimum of 3 years of troubleshooting and repair experience within an FMCG manufacturing or industrial processing environment
- ATEX experience would be an advantage
- Knowledge of Unity system
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Experienced in bakery and food blending equipment
- Must have a "Can Do" attitude
- Good diagnostic skills
- Experience and knowledge of delivering CI activities
- Extensive experience and knowledge of engineering stores, stock management and preventative maintenance
- Excellent communication skills; must be fluent in English at a Technical level
- Proficient written, numerical and verbal skills

Additional Information
These are site‑based roles, working rotating 12‑hour shift patterns (07.00‑19.00 & 19.00‑07.00) which include weekends and bank holidays. A degree of flexibility is required. Although based at the Banbury site, you will be expected to travel to other sites across the UK network and support with PLC systems or small projects when required.
These are contractor roles, paying £300‑£400 per day. You will need to invoice us weekly for payment.
Compensation
£35,000 – £37,000 per annum (average uncapped bonus of £5,800 per annum). In addition, this contractor role offers £300‑£400 per day, requiring weekly invoicing.
