Regulatory Solicitor | 2-5 PQE | National Law Firm | Birmingham

BCL Legal is pleased to be assisting a leading national law firm in their search for a Regulatory Solicitor to join their expanding team in Birmingham. This exciting opportunity offers a full-time, permanent role with flexible working options, including hybrid working as standard. The firm is highly regarded for its work in the health and safety, transport regulatory, and broader regulatory sectors, providing excellent support and career progression opportunities.

The Role

As a Regulatory Solicitor in this team, you will:

- Assist with a diverse caseload of Health & Safety, Transport Regulatory, and other regulatory matters, including advising both corporate clients and individuals.
- Work closely with partners, who manage a wide range of matters, particularly in health and safety and transport regulatory issues within the transport and logistics sector.
- Represent clients during investigations by regulatory bodies, such as the HSE, police, DVSA, and local authorities, including responding to interviews under caution and prosecutions.
- Advise clients on compliance with health and safety regulations, conduct internal investigations, and assist in the representation at hearings and Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioners.
- Participate in business development activities and support the team in achieving financial and chargeable targets.
- Benefit from the diverse nature of the department, which offers exposure to work in other regulatory areas outside of your core caseload.

About You

To be successful in your application for this Regulatory Solicitor role, you will have:

- 2-5 years' PQE with experience in regulatory law, preferably in health and safety or transport regulatory matters (though candidates with experience in criminal defence or wider regulatory defence are encouraged to apply).
- The ability to develop advocacy skills, with prior experience in advocacy being desirable.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- The flexibility to handle a varied caseload, with the willingness to develop knowledge and expertise across multiple areas of regulatory law.
