Job description

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

Are you a passionate and caring RVN looking to join a supportive, friendly team where your skills and ideas will be valued? This practice is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join an amazing practice family.

Led by our experienced Branch Partner—who holds a certificate in Small Animal Surgery—you'll be part of a close-knit, supportive team of 3 vets, a soon-to-qualify student nurse, skilled VCAs, a fantastic Client Care Assistant, and a dedicated Practice Manager. They pride themselves on open communication, teamwork, and creating a positive, encouraging workplace where everyone can thrive.

The Practice:

They are lucky to have the facilities and freedom to work up cases thoroughly, with a well-equipped practice featuring:

  • New digital x-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Haematology and biochemistry machines
  • Centrifuge and microscope

They see a varied caseload—about 70% feline, 30% canine—and are busy with both consults and surgeries, while still ensuring you get proper admin time, protected breaks, and a true work-life balance.

What’s in it for you?

They love to support their nurses to develop and grow. You'll have opportunities to lead nurse consults, build your consulting skills, and even take part in a bespoke nutritional ambassador programme. You’ll also enjoy:

  • 4-day working week with fixed day off and 1:6 weekends
  • Health cash plan from day one (dental, optical, physio, private GP)
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 6 weeks with service)
  • An extra ‘Day for You’—a paid day to spend however you wish
  • Funded CPD (£750 & 2 days’ paid leave) plus internal CPD and Clinical Communities
  • Funded certificate opportunities
  • VDS and RCVS fees paid
  • Interest-free season ticket loan & Cycle to Work scheme
  • Discounts on Life Assurance (3x salary)
  • 24-hour counselling & wellbeing support
Your Role:
  • Support with surgeries, procedures, and patient care
  • Carry out nurse-led consults and Schedule 3 procedures
  • Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Dispense and check medication
  • Lead team briefings and support the smooth running of the practice
  • Help coach and support colleagues, sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm
What You’ll Bring:
  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • A passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
  • A collaborative team spirit and positive attitude
  • Confidence in nurse consults and Schedule 3 activities
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching team members (or a desire to develop this!)
