Hamilton Specialist Referrals is a purpose built state‑of‑the‑art veterinary hospital which provides the latest in cutting edge, specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility.

Responsibilities
  • Covering a variety of nursing duties across prep, theatre, wards and imaging,
  • Ensuring patient stations are set up and ready for the day to include circuit checks in prep and theatre.
  • Preparing anaesthetic trays to include drawing up medication.
  • Clipping and prepping patients ready for procedures.
  • Monitoring patients who are undergoing diagnostic imaging, surgery, and/or rechecks.
  • Assisting in theatre to cover the circulatory nurse role.
  • Placing arterial lines, central lines and administering nerve blocks to the patients under the supervision of an anaesthetist.
  • Monitoring patient anaesthesia and sedations.
  • Providing support to the surgery & neurology departments and being a point of contact to clients, including organising admits and discharges
  • Maintaining resources required by the clinicians including equipment and stock
Qualifications & Expectations

Supporting you in your new role Experience within a referral setting is preferred but not essential, as we have a comprehensive induction and training period designed to support all new nurses. We are also proud to offer central support via IVC Evidensia's 'Introduction to Referral Nursing' training modules, specifically designed for RVNs moving from first opinion to referral. To be successful you will be a proactive, enthusiastic and approachable person who is not only a great team player, but can also use their own initiative and self‑motivate. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multi‑task with a flexible approach to working, are a must. Working Hours

A full time position covers 40 hours per week, across a rolling 6 week rota. We offer a 4 day working week, which comprises 4 x 9.25hr shifts between 07:00-20:30 during the week, plus a 1 in 6 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday). We have a bank holiday rota which currently works out at 2 per year. We will also consider part time applicants for this role.
