Job description

An Exciting Opportunity Awaits You! Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate RVN looking to develop your clinical skills within a supportive, progressive environment? With a £5,000 relocation allowance to help you settle in, join our dedicated nursing team at Ardene House Vet Practice, Kingswells Hospital – where every day brings something new.

Your New Role

At Ardene, no two days are the same. You’ll work alongside a passionate and highly skilled team, with opportunities to get involved in every aspect of patient care, including:

  • Assisting vets with both surgical and non-surgical procedures
  • Providing high standards of inpatient care – with a dedicated kennel nurse each day
  • Supporting patient workups including x‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and CT scans
  • Anaesthetic monitoring and support
  • Dental work, including scale and polish and dental x‑rays
  • Assisting with laparoscopic and orthopaedic procedures
  • Running nurse clinics

We actively encourage Schedule 3 procedures and are developing dedicated nurse procedure sessions to expand your clinical autonomy.

As an accredited training practice, we’re proud to support SVNs, VCAs, and veterinary students through their journey, with opportunities for you to become (or refresh as) a Clinical Supervisor.

You’ll be part of a close‑knit team of 15 talented and caring nurses, each bringing unique strengths to our growing hospital.

Work with an Advanced Team

Our purpose‑built hospital, based in the beautiful outskirts of Kingswells, Aberdeen, provides small animal, equine, and farm animal veterinary services.

We also have a branch in Bridge of Don, offering convenient companion animal care to the local community.

Our team includes certificate holders in surgery and medicine, and we host visiting specialists in cardiology, dermatology, and pain management. We’ve recently welcomed Aberdeen Veterinary Referrals, offering advanced orthopaedic and internal medicine services within our facility.

We take pride in fostering continuous professional development – supporting and fully funding certificates and advanced studies through the IVC Evidensia Academy.

Our hospital is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including:

  • Separate canine, feline, isolation, and critical care wards
  • CT scanner, digital x‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and modern theatre suites
  • A strong focus on patient comfort and safety
Hear From Our Head Nurse

“At Ardene House, you’ll find an environment where you can truly grow. I first joined the practice in 2014 as a student veterinary nurse, and it was the best learning experience I could have hoped for. The team was incredibly supportive throughout my training and played a huge part in shaping my early career in the veterinary world.

After gaining experience elsewhere, including emergency work and developing my nursing skills, I returned to Ardene House in 2023. Stepping back into a team I knew so well, now with many new faces, felt both familiar and exciting, and I settled back in effortlessly.

Ardene House is a collaborative practice where ideas are shared, everyone supports one another, and each person brings their own strengths to the team. With a wide range of knowledge and excellent equipment, we consistently strive to deliver the highest standard of care.

As Head Nurse, I could not be prouder of our nursing team. Each nurse contributes a unique set of skills, and together we complement one another beautifully. I feel genuinely valued here, and I’m proud to work in a practice that appreciates its nurses and the vital role we play. We provide high‑level care across the board and treat every patient as if they were our own.”
