Overview

Our expanding equine referral hospital in Newbury, West Berkshire, is seeking a passionate, dedicated nurse to join our night team. Donnington grove equine has an extremely diverse caseload covering everything from racehorses to foals and competition horses, and you’ll support it all, from our hospitalised patients, to the emergency admissions and surgery. We’re looking for someone committed to delivering exceptional care in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

For those with a background in small animal nursing who are interested in a career shift, we’re excited to offer support and training to transition to equine nursing!

Role and Team

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Donnington Grove, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our veterinary surgeons with overnight care in the hospital. We champion our RVNs to utilise their skills and actively encourage them to carry out schedule 3 tasks. This role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care across a variety of settings.

Donnington Grove Veterinary Group is a large, well-equipped practice in Newbury, Berkshire, welcoming both first opinion and referral cases across surgery, MRI, CT, scintigraphy, and medical investigations. Our facility boasts a robust in-house laboratory, a range of mobile equipment, and support for ambulatory procedures. We’re open 7 days a week, year-round, ensuring both routine and emergency care for our patients.

Team
  • 33 Equine Vets across Hospital and Ambulatory divisions, with specialists in Surgery, Medicine, and Lameness
  • 15 Student and Qualified Nurses providing essential support

Who we\'re looking for

We’re seeking a nurse with a genuine passion for equine care, ideally with some relevant experience. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to maintaining high clinical standards and delivering exceptional client care, thrive in a dynamic and collaborative team setting, and demonstrate outstanding communication skills to support both clients and colleagues.

Working hours

7 nights on 7 nights off averaging 39 hours per week

Shifts: Sunday - Thursday 8pm-6:30am; Friday - Saturday 8pm-8am
