Do you want to be part of the ever evolving and exciting speciality of Cancer Care? If the answer is yes, then join the motivated and enthusiastic Nursing Team within the Cancer Business Unit at Royal Derby Hospital.

Role

Be part of our team in the CTAU, Combined Triage and Assessment Unit as a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Telephone triaging, assessing, planning and implementing care to acutely unwell patients.
  • Support a 24-hour triage line where patients undergoing cancer treatment can call for advice and assessment.
  • Work within the CTAU to provide timely and compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to the cancer patient journey when patients become unwell as a result of their treatment or diagnosis.
  • Work on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays as required by the department.
Place and Hours

CTAU is situated on the cancer corridor level 1, entrance 24 at Royal Derby Hospital. Open 7 days a week: currently 7:30 am–8:00 pm on weekdays and 8:00 am–6:00 pm on weekends and BHs. Winter hours are staggered and extended from 08:30 am–9:00 pm due to higher activity. There will be a requirement to work 8:00 am–6:00 pm at weekends and BHs on a rota basis.

Qualifications and Requirements

We are ideally looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with demonstrable post-registration experience in acute and/or Oncology/Haematology. The successful candidate will thrive in a bespoke assessment unit and be adaptable, able to work under pressure, a great team player, empathetic and able to remain professional and positive during challenging situations.

CTAU is part of the Cancer Business Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital.
