Overview

Prison Cleared Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) – full-time position at HMP YOI Styal, Styal Rd, Wilmslow, SK9 4HR. This ongoing role offers the opportunity to provide crucial mental health nursing care within a secure prison environment. Shift pattern is 7 days a week, with shifts from 09:00–17:00 or 08:00–16:00.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive mental health assessments and interventions tailored to the prison setting. Implement ongoing management of mental health needs in line with prison healthcare protocols.
• Administer medication and monitor patient progress, ensuring adherence to established prison guidelines.
• Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, GPs, and prison staff to optimise patient care outcomes.
• Provide support to patients with complex mental health needs, including those with substance misuse issues and safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, complying with NHS and prison standards.
• Engage in ongoing training and development programmes specific to the prison healthcare environment, enhancing knowledge and practical skills.
• Maintain current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
• Ensure current and valid prison clearance is held for consideration in this role.
• Demonstrate communication, resilience, and conflict management skills.
• Work flexibly across the 7-day shift pattern.
