Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to oversee and develop our Children’s Home in Greater Manchester. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, compliance with relevant regulations, and the effective leadership of the staff team. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
  • Provide strong, motivational leadership to a team of care professionals, ensuring a positive culture of support, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example, promoting a child-centered approach at all times.
Regulatory Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure the home meets and exceeds Ofsted regulatory requirements, continually monitoring and improving service quality.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, and best practices related to children’s residential care.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, taking overall responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
Staff Development & Training
  • Oversee recruitment, staff training, and performance management to build a high-performing, well-supported team.
  • Ensure all staff are appropriately qualified, trained, and supervised in line with local authority and Ofsted requirements.
Financial Management & Administration
  • Manage budgets effectively, including overseeing payroll, expenses, and resource allocation.
  • Maintain accurate records, preparing and presenting reports to senior management and external stakeholders as required.
Quality Assurance
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections, implementing improvement plans to maintain the highest standards of care.
  • Foster an environment of continuous quality improvement and reflective practice.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • A relevant professional qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, or a related field is advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management or leadership role within a children’s residential setting.
  • Proven track record of successfully meeting Ofsted standards and driving improvements in a care environment.
Knowledge & Skills
  • In-depth understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding protocols, and children’s residential care legislation.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and positive relationships.
  • Competent in budgeting, resource management, and effective report writing.
Personal Attributes
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality care and support to children and young people.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Committed to professional development and staying updated with best practices.
Compliance
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred but not always essential).
