Overview

Location: Blaenau Gwent
Salary: £44,000-£46,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible rota including on-call duties)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We are recruiting a highly experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a well-established children's residential home in Blaenau Gwent. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will be responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with relevant regulations and inspection frameworks.

You will lead a committed team in delivering trauma-informed, child-centred care to young people with complex needs, including Autism, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), and those at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the delivery of high-quality care in line with Welsh Government's Core Aims and the Wellbeing Act 2014
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols, RISCA, and inspection frameworks
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Officer and oversee all safeguarding practices
  • Manage staff recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, and development
  • Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and restorative justice within the home
  • Oversee care planning, key working, and behavioural management strategies
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting for reviews and inspections
  • Manage budgets, petty cash, and financial reporting
  • Ensure health and safety compliance and promote a positive risk-taking culture
  • Foster a homely, inclusive environment that supports emotional and physical wellbeing
  • Lead on strategic planning, service development, and continuous improvement
  • Promote professional standards and uphold the values of high-quality residential care
Essential Requirements
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Children's Health and Social Care
  • Registration with Social Care Wales and the DBS Update Service
  • Minimum 2 years' management experience in a residential children's home
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, RISCA, and HR procedures
  • Experience supporting children with Autism, EBD, CSE, and mental health needs
  • Full UK Driving Licence (manual)
  • IT literate (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
