Registered Care Home Manager

Location: North Finchley, North London (N12)

Salary: £42,000 per annum + performance‑related bonuses

Type: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Care Home Manager to lead a residential home providing specialist care for elderly and dementia service users. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of staff and service delivery, ensuring high standards of care in line with Health and Social Care legislation.

You will have a dedicated Deputy Manager, a QA Team, and off‑site support for maintenance, procurement, HR, accounts, and operational matters. The home currently holds a Good CQC rating, and you will play a key role in maintaining and improving standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety & Wellbeing – Ensure service users are protected from harm or abuse. Manage risks, including mobility, behaviour, and hygiene. Oversee timely delivery of care by staff. Manage medication administration, recording, and storage. Maintain safety checks (fire, legionella, nurse call systems). Oversee Deprivation of Liberty (DoL) processes, capacity assessments, and best interest decisions. Promote social activities and community engagement for service users.
  • Effectiveness & Development – Ensure nutritional needs and healthcare support are met. Mentor and supervise care staff, ensuring confidence and competence in their roles. Conduct regular staff supervisions and support professional development.
  • Caring & Responsive Service – Involve service users and relatives in care decisions. Ensure staff promote privacy, dignity, and positive relationships. Monitor and update care plans according to changing needs. Respond to feedback, complaints, and concerns to improve service.
  • Leadership & Management – Chair service user, relative, and staff meetings; implement service improvements. Promote an open, positive culture aligned with the needs and views of service users. Lead by example, fostering teamwork, accountability, and professional standards.
What We Are Looking For
  • NVQ Level 5, RMA, RMN, or equivalent (completed or enrolled).
  • Proven experience as a Care Home Manager or Deputy Manager in residential care.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC standards and relevant legislation.
  • Experience with elderly and dementia care.
  • Demonstrable business acumen, including team leadership, budget awareness, and operational oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to use software platforms for staff and care management.
  • Dynamic, passionate, and professional, with the drive to continuously improve service quality.
