Job description

Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Islington Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3–6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate per day which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Registered Building Inspector in N1 2UD Hybrid.

Role Overview

The right candidate will:

• Lead and manage a professional team within the Building Control service.
• Assist the Building Control Manager in providing expert technical advice on building control matters.
• Supervise and co‑coordinate the day‑to‑day activities of a plan checking and site inspection team in relation to technical and legal compliance with the Building Acts and Building Regulations.
• Provide expert technical advice on building control matters.
• Undertake detailed inspection of building work in progress, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations at plan checking and final inspection.
• Carry an appropriate application case load.
• Work with internal departments and/or other RBIs to ensure compliance with building regulations on council projects as and when required.
• Assist and deputise for the Team Manager as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Significant appropriate post‑qualification experience in Building Control.
• Hold corporate membership of ABE, RICS (Building Control), Institution of Structural Engineers or equivalent.
