Overview

Allen & York are pleased to be working with a leading UK main contractor who are seeking a Regional Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Lead to cover a 12-month maternity leave. This role is a key leadership position, responsible for driving SHE excellence across projects and offices throughout the Midlands and the North of England.

You'll be a trusted advisor to senior managers and regional boards, promoting a high-performing, safety-first culture that delivers real value to people, projects, and the wider community.

The Role

As the regional SHE lead, you will:

  • Be the recognised SHE leader for your region.
  • Champion continuous improvement in safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Act as the local point of contact for SHE guidance, support, and performance insights.
  • Ensure consistency of SHE delivery across regional business units.
  • Influence cultural change through engagement, collaboration, and leadership.
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting and data to demonstrate SHE performance.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and industry best practice.
Success Looks Like
  • SHE performance consistently meets or exceeds KPIs.
  • Stakeholders across the business, customer base, and supply chain value your leadership.
  • Positive client relationships lead to repeat business and strong feedback.
  • SHE services are delivered efficiently and in line with organisational goals.
What You’ll Need
Essential
  • Level 6 qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • CertIOSH and Associate IEMA membership.
  • IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management.
  • CSCS Card and SEATS certification.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Proven experience delivering SHE services in a construction environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • A strong commitment to ongoing CPD.
Desirable
  • CMIOSH status.
  • Degree in SHE or related field.
  • Operational or delivery-side experience within construction or interiors.
  • Transferable leadership and behavioural change skills.
