Description

As a dynamic and growing accountancy firm with over 1,000 employees, we are seeking a Regional Finance Director (Midlands). We are looking to appoint a commercially-minded Regional Finance Director (Midlands) to join our expanding finance team. This pivotal role will provide end-to-end financial support across month-end processes, budgeting and forecasting cycles, long-term planning, and commercial decision-making. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with a can-do attitude, partnering with both internal and regional stakeholders. They will bring a curious and innovative mindset, combined with strong people skills, to offer insight and challenge that drives strategic business outcomes. A driven and focused individual, they will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and a passion for delivering meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Prepare, review, and analyse monthly management accounts including P&L, WIP, aged debt, and regional balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of reporting.
  • Lead the planning, preparation, and delivery of annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with business unit leaders.
  • Provide variance analysis with actionable insight
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts
  • Support the creation and maintenance of long-term financial plans to align with Dains’ strategic objectives
  • Work closely with Business Development and Regional Leadership to evaluate new opportunities
  • Monitor and analyse work-in-progress and debt levels across regions
  • Partner with operational teams to improve working capital performance
  • Maintain ownership of regional balance sheets, ensuring integrity and accuracy
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Education: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Professional Experience: Proven experience in a finance business partnering or commercial finance role
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of management accounting, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercially astute with strong business acumen
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar)
