Job description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Recovery Worker to join our Criminal Justice team. Your base will be Liskeard. As a member of our team you will be supporting people who access the service for help with their drug or alcohol use. This exciting role will also continue to allow us to improve the work we have already developed around supporting clients within the criminal justice system. The role will include covering the courts, prisons and custody suites on a regular basis; working with people awarded a community sentence where mental health, drugs and/or alcohol have been identified; working closely and collaborating with partner agencies to manage these orders; working directly with individuals released from prison and supporting multi‑agency plans around them.

Candidate Profile

Our team in Liskeard is looking for a Recovery Worker to join them in providing high‑quality recovery care to a diverse client group. If you are enthusiastic, creative and passionate about helping others, we’d love to hear from you. We are looking for people who have previously worked with individuals in relation to substance misuse or who have equivalent experience working in health, criminal justice or social care settings. You will have excellent communication and report writing skills, be able to collaborate as part of a team and independently manage a caseload. You may have an awareness of working in a trauma‑informed way (while this is desirable, training will be provided). Most of all you will demonstrate the enthusiasm to motivate our service users to make the changes they want and need to change their lives for the better.

Qualifications

• Have attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months.
• Have demonstrable experience of working or volunteering in health, social care, criminal justice, or other specialist settings.
• Successful track record of working or volunteering with people who have experienced substance misuse issues.
• Have a driving licence with access to a vehicle; you will need to ensure business use is added to your insurance policy.
• Have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
• Be able to work effectively in a team, supporting others when needed.
• Be resilient under pressure and able to prioritise your work.
• Have good oral and written communication skills.
• Be IT competent.
• Able to be flexible with your working hours on occasion.
• Be happy to support other With You locations when needed.

Salary

As a Recovery Worker, we offer a starting salary of £25,000 per annum. The salary for this role is on an incremental scale and will rise each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,000 per annum.
