Job description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our nationally recognized Real Estate Energy and Natural Resources team, which has an impressive client base across the globe, including entrepreneurial new entrants, joint ventures, established independents, vertically integrated utilities, financial institutions, governments, and worldwide energy giants.

With a national presence of over 150 fee earners across 8 locations, our wider Real Estate team is a force to be reckoned with. We offer diverse and engaging work opportunities driven by the quality and commerciality of our service, industry insight, and the talent and passion of our people. Our clients value what we do, and we take pride in our work.

What is the role?

This is a property role with an energy focus. You may work with an energy company on land options for wind, solar, battery storage, or hydrogen developments, as well as office relocation or development of an operation and maintenance facility. You'll handle a wide range of property work, including development projects, acquisitions, disposals, landlord and tenant, asset management, and portfolio management instructions for national and international energy clients. Our team acts on all real estate elements of major energy infrastructure developments, offering you the chance to engage in project development work for new generation projects related to renewable energy transactions and mainstream power and pipeline projects.

Transactions are often high value and provide an excellent opportunity to be involved in high-profile, quality work.

Our Real Estate team has a well-earned reputation for providing first-class legal advice, acting as trusted advisors to many key sector players. Several of our talented lawyers are recognized as leaders in their field.

Working with the wider Real Estate team across the country, there will be plenty of opportunities for client contact, and you'll be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with these contacts.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

We welcome applications from enthusiastic real estate lawyers with exposure to quality real estate work, ideally from a large regional or city firm. While energy experience is preferred, anyone with an interest in this specialist area will be considered—what matters most is genuine enthusiasm for this field.

You should be a lawyer excited to work in a busy, supportive environment. Excellent drafting skills, commercial pragmatism, a bright mind, and a strong team ethos are essential to help further develop our team's client base. Business development skills are also important; you will contribute to the growth of the team by organizing client events, writing articles for our website, and engaging in other marketing activities.

To succeed in this role, you will need at least:

  • A legal qualification with 2+ years of post-admission experience.
  • Experience working in a Real Estate legal team.
  • Experience with development transactions and projects, either in the energy sector or more broadly.
