Job Description

At Turner & Townsend, our Real Estate Digital team advise on best-fit, future-proofed technology hardware, software, network, IoT solutions and smart building systems – delivering cost effective integrated approaches. We can also provide specialist services such as data centre moves and migration, IT project management and IT solution assurance.

We typically sit between our clients and the construction teams to drive the development and integration of:

  • Fibre & Copper structured cabling solutions
  • Intelligent building systems
  • Wireless networking
  • Audio video and collaboration technologies
  • IoT and 5G
  • End user technologies
  • Data centres
  • Comms room development

Our Real Estate Digital team has a vacancy for an IT Project Manager to work with clients in the built environment. The role involves delivering projects that include developing and implementing organisational‑wide digital strategies and advanced disruptive technologies into the built environment.

Main responsibilities

We are always on the lookout for bright, talented and motivated IT Project Managers with technical competencies to work on large‑scale, complex technology projects in the built environment.

  • Provide support on major IT Programme and Commercial Management Commissions, taking responsibility for all aspects of technology service delivery, ensuring client objectives are met and projects deliver on schedule, within cost targets and meet quality standards.
  • Work in partnership with our clients to advise on how technology can help overcome business challenges and push the boundaries of technology to develop best‑in‑class, future‑proofed solutions.
  • Manage commissions of varying sizes and complexity, engaging with stakeholders to manage design and coordination within the construction programme.
  • Embed within the design team to drive the technology vision, provide strategy development, specification creation, cost model development, heat output calculations and more, aligning to the RIBA plan of work.
  • Understand the commercial property sector, user experience and improve pain points.
  • Support clients with vision and strategy development.
  • Lead interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Establish overall success criteria for programmes including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
  • Ensure stakeholders are aware of quality, safety, health and environment issues.
  • Establish effective project governance, processes and systems.
  • Plan projects, creating detailed plans.
  • Lead and facilitate cross‑functional project teams.
  • Manage flow of project information, through regular meetings and written communication.
  • Administer the IT change control process.
  • Monitor and advise on project finances, preparing formal progress and other reports.
  • Understand IT procurement and process in a construction/refurbishment environment.
  • Manage schedules of IT and IT related installations including AV, voice, cabling and building systems.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities to assist clients with technology consultancy needs.
Qualifications
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience delivering integrated technology solutions as a project manager.
  • Proven ability to work across a variety of technical disciplines and to have amassed a comprehensive understanding of IT functions.
  • Ability to master technical concepts, processes and skills, and effectively communicate them to diverse audiences.
  • Resourceful problem‑solver, leveraging internal and partner resources.
  • Strong understanding of the APM Body of Knowledge.
  • Good stakeholder management, self‑motivated, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and build relationships.
  • Qualifications such as APM Project Management, Agile Project Management Practitioner, Prince2 Project Management.
Desirable
  • Experience delivering SMART buildings, IoT systems and OT networks.
  • Understanding of technical capabilities (Network, Fibre, SMART buildings, IT, OT).
  • Experience writing bid responses and presenting ideas in interview.
  • Knowledge of commercial property sector and RIBA plan of work.
  • Security Cleared.
