Overview

A prestigious international law firm is seeking a talented and ambitious Commercial Development & Investment Associate (0-2 PQE) to join its Birmingham team. This is a rare opportunity to work on some of the most high-profile and complex real estate development and investment projects in the UK, alongside an experienced and supportive team in a truly collaborative environment.

The Role
  • You will play a key part in a market-leading real estate practice, advising a diverse client base on large-scale commercial development and investment transactions across the logistics, industrial, office, and mixed-use sectors.
  • Acquisition and disposal of development land and strategic real estate investment assets (freehold and leasehold), often involving complex title matters and conditional contracts.
  • Advising on structured development transactions, pre-lettings, and sale-and-leaseback deals.
  • Preparing and negotiating a wide range of real estate documentation including agreements for lease, transfers, leases, deeds of variation, and certificates of title.
  • Managing title due diligence, search reviews, client reporting, SDLT and Land Registry applications, and post-completion formalities.
  • Advising on the real estate aspects of development finance and investment funding structures.
  • Collaborating closely with clients, agents, surveyors, and internal specialists to ensure efficient and commercial delivery on all matters.
  • Actively engaging in business development, networking, and client training events as part of your wider practice contribution.
Candidate Requirements
  • 0-2 years' PQE with experience in commercial property, ideally with exposure to development or investment work.
  • Strong technical and drafting skills with a clear understanding of commercial drivers in real estate transactions.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload with excellent attention to detail.
  • A team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and third parties.
  • Willingness to get involved in marketing and sector initiatives, particularly in the logistics and industrial space.
  • A genuine interest in building long-term relationships with clients and contributing to the growth of the practice.
