About the Role
As Rapid Works Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of fast-response fire safety installation and commissioning projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in fire systems, project management, and field operations who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
You will manage multiple projects — often simultaneously — ensuring they are delivered safely on time, and within budget. Some projects exceed £1 million in value and demand expert coordination and client communication from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fire alarm and fire suppression system installations to the highest safety and technical standards.
- Take ownership of rapid works projects from initial site survey to client handover.
- Occasionally carry out hands-on tasks when needed.
- Manage projects of varying scale, including high-value (£1m+) installations.
- Prepare, submit, and oversee RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance, progress, and quality.
- Manage procurement: pricing, purchase orders, and delivery coordination.
- Attend both on-site and virtual meetings with clients, suppliers, and engineers.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure project resources, costs, and timelines are aligned.
- Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships.
- Support business growth by helping recruit, mentor, and manage junior team members.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong experience in installing and commissioning fire alarm systems.
- Demonstrable project management experience in fire safety or similar environments.
- Working knowledge of fire detection and suppression systems.
- Familiarity with RAMS and current health & safety legislation.
- Ability to be hands-on and comfortable conducting regular site inspections.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.
- Comfortable engaging with clients, contractors, and technical teams.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience with FireClass systems.
- Knowledge of gas suppression and water mist systems.
- Experience in data centres or critical infrastructure environments.
- Previous leadership/team management experience.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and project tracking software.
