Quantity Surveyor – New-Build Social Housing

Location: North East
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction and housing development team in the North East.

You will play a key role in the commercial management of new-build housing and regeneration projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all commercial and cost management aspects of residential construction projects from inception through to completion.

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, financial forecasts, and cost reports.

  • Carry out valuations and agree interim payments with clients and subcontractors.

  • Manage procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tender enquiries and contract documentation.

  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

  • Assess, value, and process variations and claims.

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure robust contractual and financial control.

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and commercial colleagues to ensure efficient project delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and relevant legislation.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within residential construction, affordable housing, or regeneration projects.

  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (JCT / NEC).

  • Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
