Overview

Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor - Residential Developer
County Durham | £50,000-£70,000 DOE + Package | Salary based upon relevant experience

Elvet Recruitment has been appointed to recruit a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established and growing house builder based in County Durham. Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the commercial delivery of residential developments within the region, including budgeting, cost control, subcontractor management and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
  • Prepare draft and site start budgets for allocated developments.
  • Produce quarterly valuations and material cost-to-complete exercises.
  • Manage subcontractor payments and final accounts with full sign-off.
  • Issue subcontract orders in line with company policy and documentation standards.
  • Conduct on-site measurements and assess contractor payments.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and maintain trade specifications.
  • Price customer extras and liaise with the sales team as required.
  • Manage the Professional Fees Budget and assist with material procurement.
  • Support land appraisals through take-offs and cost input.
About You

We\'re looking for a commercially astute and detail-oriented professional who brings:

  • Proven experience in quantity surveying within residential construction.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with COINS ERP software is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Xpedeon and Viewpoint/4Projects is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload while contributing to wider team goals.
  • Solid understanding of surveying, estimating, and financial return strategies.
  • Experience with cost reporting, procure-to-pay systems, and document management.
