Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Leicestershire
Rate: £34.86 – £37.35 per hour (umbrella)
Contract: Interim Assignment

A Local Authority based in Leicestershire is recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its Property and Housing Asset Management Team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Housing Asset Management Team with cost control, financial management, and procurement for the Council’s housing stock. You will ensure that all works and contracts are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in full compliance with the Council’s procedures and financial regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination and management of cost control for housing repairs and investment works.
  • Produce and maintain accurate financial information in line with Council standing orders.
  • Ensure robust cost control measures are in place and budgets are adhered to across internal and external contracts.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, customers, and stakeholders, addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Support the Housing Procurement Officer with contract procurement activities.
  • Forecast cash flow and manage accruals, sharing information with relevant stakeholders.
  • Review contractor valuations promptly, ensuring all works and documentation are complete and payments are processed in line with agreed terms.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Qualified Quantity Surveyor (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within housing or property services.
  • Strong financial management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent understanding of contract administration and procurement processes.
