Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

You will play a key role in implementing and sustaining a high standard of cost management to enhance ISS’s position within the project market, driving growth within the account. This position carries responsibility for the commercial oversight and cost-effective delivery of Capital Projects and MAC across Government accounts, including governance, compliance, risk management, and supply chain strategy development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans, ensuring robust cost control.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance against agreed targets, including P&L accountability.
  • Administer NEC4 contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and managing associated risks.
  • Prepare tender documentation, evaluate bids, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value.
  • Review and certify applications for payment, and prepare interim and final valuations accurately and on time.
  • Assess and manage variations, compensation events, and claims, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery and provide clear commercial advice.
  • Implement best practice processes for governance and compliance, managing contract risks across projects.
Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Post-qualification experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contract administration and cost management principles.
  • Proven experience in tendering, procurement, and managing concurrent projects with a combined annual value of £5m+.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and proficiency in cost management tools (e.g., Coupa).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with applications for payment, valuations, and risk/change management.
  • Professional membership (RICS or equivalent) desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (required for travel to sites nationwide; car allowance provided).
