What is the role?

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the financial management of sites within the Wessex region, based at our offices in Norwich, through effective and efficient controls, producing reports to allow senior management to establish site status.

What You'll Do As a Quantity Surveyor
  • Manage up to 3 or 4 sites of varying complexity, setting up budgets, producing bi‑monthly valuations (CVRs), appointing subcontractors and making payments to maintain close cost control.
  • Ensure weekly and monthly payments are processed efficiently, resolving disputed items to keep site works unhindered and provide an accurate picture of site financial status.
  • Produce site valuations on a bi‑monthly basis and present to the Board of Directors to indicate any variation from budgeted figures.
  • Undertake negotiations to obtain optimum rates for subcontractor appointments to maximise margins.
  • Utilise the Persimmon Group COINS system to set up new sites, establish budgets, and predict site profitability for financial planning verification.
  • Liaise with other departments on time to ensure sites run efficiently (Construction, Sales, Customer Care, Accounts).
  • Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Group's Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance throughout the team to promote safety in the way we build projects.
  • When deputising for the Manager, allocate tasks to the team, verifying quality of work to maintain company standards.
  • With proven experience, mentor and train junior members, developing their skills to eventually take on more responsibility and add value.
  • Occasionally provide assistance to the Commercial Manager on key business decisions and attend regular regional meetings as the relevant subject expert.
What experience do I need?
  • Minimum of HND/HNC in building relating studies
  • Previous experience in the UK residential house building sector
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to oversee a number of different projects at different stages of development, whilst having exceptional project management and time‑management skills.
