Job description

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor looking for a new and rewarding career to join our well-structured and supportive team. At SOCOTEC Advisory, we work on a diverse range of projects across both the private and public sectors and offer exposure to traditional quantity surveying as well as dispute resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Providing high-quality quantity surveying services to clients
  • Establishing client requirements for cost planning and cost estimating
  • Understanding and developing opinions on procurement strategies
  • Preparing draft tender and contract documents, including ITT packs, for review
  • Carrying out tender appraisals and identifying a recommendation
  • Monitoring and recording project costs
  • Valuing completed works and arranging payments in accordance with the contract
  • Preparing budget and progress reports, including gaining experience of cost value reconciliations
  • Identifying commercial risks and assessing cost variations
  • Maintaining detailed variation and risk register information
  • Issuing notices in accordance with the contract conditions
  • Producing draft project and claim reports for review
  • Preparing draft final accounts
  • Attending and providing input at project meetings
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in quantity surveying
  • 3+ years quantity surveying experience
  • Competent using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills
  • Positive approach to client care and problem solving
  • Ability to work alongside Expert Witness and Advisory teams
Desirable
  • Working towards membership of the RICS
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Has used CostX software
  • Experience in the rail and aviation sectors
