Overview

Do you have a proven track record in managing construction costs and delivering value on complex projects?

Our client is a well-established housebuilder with a reputation for quality and sustainability. They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional residential developments.

Responsibilities
  • Cost Management: Prepare and manage budgets, PFAs, and financial tracking to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender packages, analyse subcontractor quotations, and lead pre-let interviews to secure best value.
  • Subcontractor Management: Place and issue orders, oversee valuations, payments, and variations while maintaining robust cost controls.
  • Value Engineering: Work with design and construction teams to identify cost-saving solutions without compromising quality.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on costs, cash flow, and forecasts, identifying potential overruns early.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior team members as the QS function grows.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (RICS accredited) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience, ideally in residential housing developments
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and IT skills (including advanced Excel)
  • Line management experience and ability to lead a team
