Job Summary

GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a long-established and highly reputable UK manufacturer of precision‑forged and machined components for the aerospace, defence, and other high‑specification sectors. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for a detail‑oriented Thickness Checker to joinిదtheir team.

This is a full‑time, permanent position offering £14 p/h to start, plush shift allowance working Monday‑Thursday 06:00am‑16:00pm. You will be assessed in 4‑6 weeks with the look of increasing the hourly rate.

We can start successful candidates on the 19th or 26th January which is subject to all HMRC checks being completed.

Responsibilities

As a Thickness Checker miiran resistant for inspection, measurement, and quality control which will typically include chant duties and requirements. This role would likely overlap with inspection/quality measurement functions given the context of aerospace manufacturing and precision measurement work, so attention to detail is required. To be considered you must demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict tolerances, read technical drawings and detailed specifications, and maintain accurate records, offering clear communication skills.

Required skills and experience

• Perform precise thickness measurements on forged or machined aerospace components to ensure they meet engineering specifications and tolerances
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, verniers, thickness gauges, height gauges or digital inspection equipment
• Record and report measurement Riley accurately for quality documentation and traceability
• Identify non‑conforming parts and communicate deviations to quality/production teams
• Due to the hours of work, having own transportation would be beneficial
