Overview
Lead the Quality Engineering function to ensure robust quality processes and standards across manufacturing, supply chain and design. Drive continuous improvement and resolution activities to deliver increases in right‑first‑time and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement the Quality Engineering strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Manage and develop a team of Quality Engineers, setting clear goals and performance measures.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem‑solving across the team.
- Oversee quality assurance processes across the full product lifecycle – from concept through production.
- Ensure supplier quality standards are met through audits, performance reviews and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing and inspection teams to embed quality principles early in development.
- Develop the quality management system, processes and documentation to ensure robustness.
- Own internal audit systems and ensure timely resolution of non‑conformances.
- Own quality metrics that drive data‑led decision‑making.
- Act as the key interface between engineering, operations and supply chain for quality‑related issues.
- Support reliability meetings and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
- Work with Quality Control leadership to ensure risks are understood and mitigated.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in quality engineering leadership within high‑performance or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Strong leadership and team‑development capabilities.
- Lead auditor trained with experience auditing within the supply chain.
- Expertise in implementing and maintaining quality management systems.
- Familiarity with a wide range of manufacturing methods, including composites, metallics, additive manufacturing and special processes.
- Demonstrated capability in leading company‑wide projects and realising benefits.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Must be a natural leader and able to take people with you on change journeys.
- Must be focused and able to work in a methodical manner, even when working under pressure.
- Conscientious approach to workload, with flexibility in working hours and tasks undertaken.
