Job Title: Quality Engineer

Rate: £400 - £450 per day

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Quality Engineer to join our client's team based in Reading. This is an exciting 12-month contract opportunity offering a competitive daily rate within the £400 - £450 range. We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact in ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quality assurance efforts for products and processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues.
- Develop and maintain inspection and testing procedures, ensuring they align with the best industry practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to drive continuous improvement in quality.
- Perform audits and inspections at various stages of production to identify potential quality risks and areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present quality reports and metrics, highlighting trends and areas of concern.
- Manage and facilitate external audits and customer quality assessments.
- Work with suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and manage supplier quality issues when they arise.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer, ideally within the manufacturing or engineering sectors.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards, including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar certifications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement effective corrective actions.
- Experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, FMEA).
- Strong communication skills, able to liaise effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using quality management software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.
- Experience working with suppliers and conducting audits.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with automotive or aerospace quality standards is a plus.
- Experience in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
