A leading engineering staffing provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to ensure compliance with quality standards in heavy engineering and maritime operations. The ideal candidate will have quality control experience, proficiency in inspection tools, and a third-level qualification in engineering or related fields. This role involves monitoring quality control procedures, conducting inspections, and liaising with clients and third-party agencies. Applicants should be ready to collaborate in a standard office environment, with potential travel for site inspections.
To ensure that all engineering, fabrication, installation, and testing activities comply with applicable quality standards, project specifications, classification society rules, and regulatory requirements within heavy engineering or maritime operations.
Quality control experience in heavy engineering, shipbuilding, offshore, oil & gas, or marine fabrication.
Experience with large‑scale fabrication, marine structures, vessels, offshore modules, or heavy machinery is highly desirable.
Familiarity with marine and heavy industry codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, AWS, ISO, IMO, SOLAS).
Proficiency in inspection tools and measuring instruments.
Good documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
Third level qualification in Quality, Engineering, Marine Engineering or similar.
Typically requires an undergraduate degree and broad experience or equivalent.
Standard Office Environment. May be required to travel and/or have overnight trips. Hours worked may exceed regular schedule.
Physical Effort: Little chance of injury. Duties may involve sitting, standing, keyboarding with frequent flexible breaks.
