Job summary

A seafood processing company in Grimsby is seeking a Night Shift QA to ensure the food safety, quality, and legality of products. You'll assist in audits, monitor hygiene standards, and ensure compliance with various regulations. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, capable of working under pressure and part of a team. Who is New England Seafood International?

New England Seafood International (NESI) was established in 1991 and is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 850 people across three sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from all around the world. We are part of the Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation formed in 1971 and which is owned by 26,000 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders, who are all bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the Americas.

Job Purpose

To ensure the food safety, quality & legality of products produced during their shift as part of the company's due diligence and HACCP controls.

Accountabilities

Key areas of activity that the Operative needs to deliver are as follows:

  • Assist in the effective implementation of all new products or changes to existing lines, and documentation through liaison with production, and control of product labelling.
  • Ensure that the company maintains compliance with the current BRC/ MSC versions, retailer COP’s & Local Authority requirements to ensure compliance is being maintained at factory level.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Quality Management System in line with all recommended standards to ensure factory compliance at all times.
  • Monitor hygiene standards through audits to assist the site Quality Manager to ensure that standards are being maintained to the highest possible level at all times.
  • Completion of the following tasks (This list is not exhaustive):
  • Facility and product temperature verification
  • GMP audits in active departments (i.e. Defrost, Retail and Despatch)
  • Paperwork auditing and scheduled traceability challenges
  • Archiving records ensure these can be retrieved when needed
  • CCP verification
  • Hygiene audits
  • Glass and brittle plastic audits
  • Fabrication audits
  • Scales and check-weigher verification
  • Microbiological sample collection, Data submission to laboratory web site, certificate file updating and gathering any retests when required
  • Support Operation team in Label Room when required

Update KPI and shift reports. Ensure that members of your team are adhering to the correct work instructions and codes of practice at all times.
