Job summary

A leading food manufacturer in Gateshead is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join their team permanently. Responsibilities include product sampling, inspection, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a QA role in food manufacturing and hold a Level 3 Food Safety Certificate. This position operates on a weekly 3-shift rotation, offering a salary of £20,000 plus shift allowance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a QA Technician role within Food Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, HACCP, COSHH.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out sampling and inspection of company products.
  • Maintain accurate records of analysis and inspection.
  • Perform daily GMP audits and CCP checks.

Skills

Food Safety Certificate (Level 3)
Experience writing SOPs
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
Good Manufacturing Practices

Education

Degree 2:1 or above (desirable)
Level 2 Cleaning Technology & Control Course (desirable)
Job description

Our client is a well established food manufacturer based in the Gateshead area. They are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be responsible for ensuring all work in progress and finished goods conform to company and own label customer standards.

This role will be on a weekly 3 shift rotation. Salary £20,000 + Shift allowance.

Main duties will include:

  • Carry out sampling and inspection of company products
  • Collection of samples for incubation/shelf life studies, non conformances & inspection testing
  • Carry out shelf life determinations
  • Maintain accurate records of analysis/inspection and issue ‘on hold’ reports
  • Carry out CCP checks on each production line
  • Carry out daily GMP audits
  • Be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of factory equipment used in the manual monitoring of product temperatures
  • Assist the Quality Coordinator with investigation work for customer complaints
  • Monitor hygiene and temperatures of equipment in staff areas and report any non conformances
  • Promote good manufacturing practice and ensure factory standards are maintained

The successful candidate will have:

  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate
  • 2 years experience within a QA Technician role within Food Manufacturing
  • Experience writing SOPs
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, HACCP, COSHH)
  • Degree 2:1 or above is desirable however not essential
  • Level 2 Cleaning Technology & Control Course is desirable however not essential
