Qualified English & Maths Tutor (Outreach - SEN/SEMH)

Location: Havering

Hours: 10-15 hours per week (flexible scheduling)

Rate: From 25 per hour

About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Qualified and experienced English and Maths Tutor to support young learners in Havering who are currently not attending mainstream school. These pupils often have SEN and SEMH challenges, and may have been out of education for extended periods.

In this Outreach Tutor role, you\'ll deliver 1:1 tailored sessions designed to re-engage students, close learning gaps, and help them regain confidence in their education. Sessions are held in-person, often in the pupil\'s home or a local agreed venue.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher or experienced tutor looking for more personalised teaching experiences outside of the traditional classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging English and Maths sessions tailored to individual needs

  • Build rapport and boost confidence in students who may have had disrupted education
  • Track and report on student progress
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Requirements
  • Recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months\' experience working in UK schools or tutoring
  • Experience working with SEN and/or SEMH learners is essential
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two recent, child-related references
