Are you passionate about using creativity to drive health equity? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic and strategic Public Health Senior Officer to lead our Creative Public Health Programme. This unique role bridges the arts and public health sectors using cultural engagement to tackle health inequalities and improve wellbeing across Birmingham. You will manage a portfolio of city‑wide and hyper‑local investments, oversee embedded matrix officers in cultural institutions and lead strategic alignment across the Public Health Division and wider council. This is a high‑impact role with opportunities to shape policy co‑design services with citizens and represent Birmingham in national and international forums.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Healing Arts Programme and other creative health initiatives.
  • Manage contracts and financial planning across 11 active projects.
  • Supervise a Grade 4 officer and four matrix officers embedded in arts organisations.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with arts NHS, Integrated Care Systems and community organisations.
  • Ensure legacy planning for matrix officer roles post‑contract.
  • Translate public health policy into practice through creative interventions.
  • Represent the council in strategic partnerships and public health forums.
