A regional public health authority in Greater Manchester is seeking a qualified public health professional to lead public health initiatives. You will guide the team, engage with partners, and focus on reducing health inequalities. Strong communication and political skills essential for collaboration. This is a great opportunity to join Public Health at Tameside MBC. Tameside is one of the ten boroughs in Greater Manchester, located a short journey from Manchester City Centre. The role works with partners across Greater Manchester to lead GM-wide programmes, including the Live Well programme.
The role provides strategic leadership within Public Health and across the council and wider system, alongside the Director of Public Health, Assistant Director, and the existing Public Health Consultant. You will be part of the Public Health Senior Team and the Extended Leadership team of the council, working with partners to improve health outcomes identified in the Tameside Corporate Plan and Health & Wellbeing Strategy. The role reports directly to the Director of Public Health.
We are seeking a qualified public health professional with excellent problem solving, communication, political and technical skills. You should have energy and drive to reduce health inequalities in Tameside, with an interest in wider determinants of health and working with the VCFS E sector. The role requires strong relationship and partnership skills, intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation, flexibility, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to influence across organisational boundaries.
