Overview

Psychology/ Criminology/ Sociology/ Education studies Graduates based in Leicester to work as SEN LSAs (Learning Support Assistants) in one of our specialist schools for children who have an EHCP for trauma, social, emotional and mental health challenges, ADHD, ADD, OCD and several more associated conditions.

Job Title: Psychology/ Criminology/ Sociology/ Education studies Graduates - Leicester – Special Needs Learning Support Assistant

Location: Leicester

Salary Scale: TA2 £89-90 a day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract type: Long Term/ Temporary to Permanent

Responsibilities
  • Work as an SEN LSA in a specialist school setting supporting children with trauma, social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support within classes of no more than 6 students, across a provision for children aged 5-16.
  • Collaborate with SEN Professionals, Psychology and Criminology graduates, and clinical staff on site to support learning and wellbeing.
  • Engage in activities across key personal skills and subject areas such as Sports, Cooking, Technology, Music, Drama, Photography and Art.
  • Participate in training and development provided by the school.
  • Shadow specialists when appropriate, depending on schedule and individual student needs.
Qualificat ions / Requirements
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to satisfy all safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the Update Service) or completing an application for a new check.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students through a restorative approach and focus on comfort over content.
  • Willingness to work in a setting where each child’s context is unique and requires sensitivity to mental health and trauma.
