Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity for a Psychological Therapist to work with older people in a supportive specialist primary care team based at St James House, Salford.

Team

The service includes Psychologists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists and a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, working together to deliver psychological therapies and counselling to older people within the Salford community.

Therapeutic Approach

We use a range of evidence‑based approaches adapted to each client: CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy, EMDR and Person‑Centred Counselling. We also run group sessions for carers of people with dementia.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, intervention and therapy to older adults, primarily through clinic appointments and home visits.
  • Plan and carry out safe, efficient home visits, demonstrating a strategy for safe community work.
  • Deliver individual therapies and, where appropriate, group work.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines, and liaise with carers, families and other health professionals.
  • Contribute to research, audit and service development initiatives.
