A public safety organization in Portishead is seeking an Investigator to join their Professional Standards Department. The role involves managing investigations, conducting interviews, and preparing reports. Applicants must hold a PIP1 Accreditation and have proven research and investigation experience. We have two opportunities in the Professional Standards Department as Investigators: 1 x parental leave cover for up to 12 months, and 1 x fixed term contract for 12 months.
Our Professional Standards Department (PSD) exists to ensure the public have a means of challenging Policing and holding us to account. We investigate a wide range of public complaints and internal conduct matters, working in line with Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) statutory guidance in respect of investigating death or serious injury cases following police contact.
In every case within PSD, the emphasis is on improvement and preventing any identified reoccurrence of poor performance, contributing to continuing improvement and helping to increase public confidence in the police.
You will be required to travel around the force area in this role, therefore holding a full UK driving licence or having the ability to travel using alternative transport is required.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work from home or in the office at Police Headquarters in Portishead.
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
