About the role

Base salary from $119,042 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with preferred candidate based on skills and experience

We’re looking for a skilled Protection & Control Technical Officer to join our Asset Management team. In this hands‑on technical role, you’ll work independently to maintain, test and support protection and control systems that keep the network operating safely and reliably.

Based in the North or North West of the State, you’ll play an important role in minimising business risk, responding to network events and ensuring protection and control assets meet required standards, while working closely with internal teams and contractors to ensure safe system operation.

What you’ll do
  • Maintain, test and commission protection and control assets
  • Investigate protection faults and analyse tripping and event records
  • Coordinate fault response and restoration with Network Control
  • Support asset work plans, compliance testing and risk mitigation
  • Maintain accurate asset records and participate in the after‑hours response roster'
About you

This is a great opportunity for a technically capable professional who enjoys problem‑solving, working in the field and contributing to the safe, reliable operation of critical network assets. You will hold:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience in Protection, Control and SCADA
  • Electrical trade qualification
  • Field experience maintaining protection and control assets
  • Sound knowledge of EHV transmission and distribution protection and control systems
  • Strong understanding of PSSR and relevant legislation, rules and standards
  • Experience preparing clear, high-quality technical documentation
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and make sound decisions
  • Confidence working under pressure, managing change and adapting to different situations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
