Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, NG10 1HU

Hybrid working is available – there is an expectation to attend the office 2-3 times a week

About the Role

As Property Officer at Erewash Borough Council, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the planned and reactive maintenance for the Council’s property assets – driving innovation, sustainability, and value during this exciting period of change.

What You Will Do

As the Property Officer you will help maintain and improve the Council’s buildings by planning, delivering and reviewing both planned and reactive maintenance programmes. You will also carry out building condition inspections, monitor contractor performance and update maintenance plans to ensure assets remain safe, well-maintained and cost-effective.

A key part of the role is ensuring strong health and safety compliance, including areas such as Working at Height, Asbestos, Legionella and CDM Regulations.

The role also involves making informed decisions about how maintenance and repair work is prioritised, ensuring buildings remain safe and in good condition.

About You
  • Experience managing building maintenance programmes, undertaking building inspections, and managing contracted building repairs.
  • A degree in surveying or HNC/HND level qualification in a building construction related field.
  • Strong knowledge of construction, building pathology, procurement, Health & Safety legislation, and the ability to use IT software including Microsoft Office packages.
  • Knowledge of legislation affecting building operations e.g. British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice, Building and Planning Regulations.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Ideally you will have
  • Experience of delivering a planned preventative maintenance programme in accordance with BS8210 – Guide to Building Maintenance Management.
  • Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, CABE).
  • NEBOSH Construction.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, CAD, and working in a local government environment.
